Whether a Mickey fan or not, this game has something to offer gamers. This is definitely a recommended title for those who enjoy Disney games, and just a well-rounded Sega platformer in general. The light and water effects found in this game were generally unheard of at this time, and even by today's standards, it's still a fun game to play and an appealing title to look at. Simply put, it's a beautiful game, and shows off the graphic capabilities of the Genesis. This is also a fairly simple game, so it will be possible to complete this in one sitting.

Movement is still done in a two-dimensional plane, with the exception of the three-dimensional castle that serves as the game’s overworld, but the environments and characters no longer have the appearance of being flat objects that are crushed up against one another.
Since its original release on the SEGA Genesis, this reimagined version of the game maintains the same fundamental layout, but every aspect of the gameplay has been updated. Castle of Illusion was a 16-bit side-scrolling platform game, and those who played the first version will remember it fondly.
